Consulting practice · Mission-driven leadership

AI training for leaders who cannot afford to get this wrong.

I design AI readiness programs for executive teams in hospice, healthcare nonprofits, foundations, education, and social services. Teams walk in cautious. They walk out building their own agents.

About

Twenty-five years teaching leaders how to learn what is next.

For twenty-five years I have helped leaders adapt to whatever came next. New technology. New ways of working. New ways of leading.

I built iCAN AI for the moment we are in now. AI is not optional anymore, but most leadership teams are still treated like end users instead of decision-makers. I design training that puts them back in the driver's seat: building real workflows with their own data, in their own enterprise environment, with the guardrails their work requires.

My background spans twenty-five years in leadership development, including work as a professor and a corporate L&D leader. iCAN AI is the practice I built to bring that experience to mission-driven organizations: hospice and palliative care, healthcare nonprofits, foundations, education, social services.

What I do

Three ways to work together.

Some teams need a full readiness program. Some need a half-day to figure out where to start. Some need a coach in the room while they build. I take all three.

i.

Multi-session leadership programs

A custom-designed AI readiness arc for your leadership team. Seven to ten sessions, live, built around your real workflows and your enterprise environment. Each session ends with something a leader can use that afternoon. This is the work featured below.

Flagship engagement.
ii.

Discovery and strategy sessions

A half-day workshop to assess where your team actually is with AI, surface the workflows that matter most, and map what a full program would look like for you. Useful when leadership needs to align before committing, or when you want to stress-test the idea of AI training before scoping a larger engagement.

Entry point.
iii.

Executive coaching

One-on-one or small group coaching for leaders implementing AI inside their teams. ICF certified. Designed for executives who want to move faster than a group session allows, or who need a coach in the room while they build their own workflows and agents.

Add-on or standalone.

Tool-agnostic. I train teams on Microsoft Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, and whatever your organization has chosen.

Who I work with

I design AI training for mission-driven leadership teams. Hospice and palliative care, healthcare nonprofits, foundations, education, social services.

Organizations where culture matters as much as the tools. Where the question is not whether to adopt AI, but how to do it without losing what makes the work feel human.

The problem

Your team has the licenses. They do not have a way in.

i.

Regulatory fear

HIPAA, PHI, donor data. Teams freeze before they ever try because no one has told them what is actually safe.

ii.

Access gaps

Licenses sit unused. The clinical lead has Copilot. The frontline staff do not. Adoption stalls in the middle.

iii.

Skill variance

Some leaders write prompts like senior engineers. Others have never opened the app. Generic training fails both.

Featured engagement

What a full program looks like.

Below is one engagement: a 10-session program for the leadership council of a nonprofit hospice. Two phases. From regulatory caution to building their own AI agents inside their enterprise environment.

The approach

A 70/30 arc, paced for real teams.

Seventy percent practice. Thirty percent frame. Every session ends with something a leader can use the same afternoon.

The ratio

I do not run feature tours. I run sessions where leaders solve a problem they actually have, with AI, in front of each other.

  1. 01

    Full License Launch

Live demos of Copilot sending emails, scheduling meetings, and summarizing inbox threads. PHI concerns addressed head-on.

  2. 02

    Agent Mode

Copilot editing inside Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Smart Data Recovery for shared spreadsheets. Full workbook creation from a single prompt.

  3. 03

    Data to Branded PowerPoint

The team's number-one request from Phase 1, delivered. Full pipeline from raw data to fully branded slides using the organization's own Brand Kit.

  4. 04

    Projects and Memory

The mindset shift. From treating AI as a chatbot to building persistent workstreams with custom instructions and contextual memory.

  5. 05

    Role-Specific Workflows

Breakouts by team. Every exercise built from real tasks submitted by team leads in advance.

  6. 06

    Document Intelligence

Long-document analysis, multi-file comparison, image understanding inside PDFs. Directly relevant for accreditation, compliance, and board reporting.

  7. 07

    Building Agents

Each team builds a working internal chatbot grounded in their own documents. Shared with colleagues the next day.

In their words

What the room said.

I feel more validation in using AI. The openness and validation that this is a tool and resource that is part of the workforce now is really helpful.

Your sessions prompted people to think more about where AI could be applied. You have sparked curiosity, which is really good.

This was an efficient, seamless way to take PowerPoint presentations to the next level in what seemed like no time. I will be using this immediately.

I really enjoyed today and got a lot out of the 1-hour meeting. It was just long enough to absorb the major learning ideas but not too long that you would get lost.

I LOVE the copy and paste prompts. Such a great resource.

It was well paced with great discussion around the use of AI and the need to incorporate it into workflows. It helped to really dive into the why and the ways it can be used.

Let's talk

If your team is ready to stop watching AI happen to them, let's talk.

I take on a small number of engagements each season. The conversation is free, and I will tell you honestly if I am the right fit.
